The important topic of firefighter survival was learned this Saturday with Chili Fire Explorers and our newer Chili Firefighters.  Topics of how to use the SCOTT regulator and mask to still breathe when the SCBA fails or goes completely empty and how to hang from or escape out of a windows were practiced.  Discussion topics also covered best practices of what to do to prevent having to use survival skills such as knowing your air supply, proper nozzle patterns for the type of fire, and knowing your location within the structure.  The importance of keeping your gear clean and wearing your SCBA even during overhaul to prevent carcinogens from being absorbed was also discussed.  Click on the photo below for more pictures from today's training or go to our Photo Gallery page for more pictures.
